Yes, agreed on the 100 mile weeks. I have seen guys running those sorts of miles week in week out, even outside of a marathon cycle. It usually ends in tears. As a peak in a marathon plan that is different, although I've never managed to go beyond 70s myself. Age is obviously a factor.

I was only being nosey. My marathon days are probably over & I’m nowhere near sub 3. TBF, the guy I mentioned is more than decent and was trying to go sub 2:30. He was just about 50 at the time & failed by 8 seconds. |

Gotta be time rich though, at 9min mile that's 900 mins per week, 15hrs! |

Probably 7 min milling or less for a 2:30 guy. Still a chunk of time but not too unreasonable perhaps.

That's more like 11.5hrs ish. Sunday is long run maybe 2.5hrs so that leaves 9 more across 6 days which is closer to manageable I guess.

Yeah at 7mm average ish over the week that's only 12 hours. I trained 10.5 hours last week and had a total rest day saturday so it's quite achievable time wise at that level. |

I was in my fifties and all my running is slow. Usually came out at sub 8 pace though.

I think i ran just over 90 mpw on two occasions, not consecutive weeks, but close together. I had a niggle a few weeks later and so never pushed to that volume again

When I did that kind of mileage, pace was averaging somewhere between 7 and 8mm, mostly at the slower end. Then again, I used to run-commute 8-10 miles to work and back 4 or 5 days each week, so that was how I stacked those miles.
