small encouragement that RBR rates my half run as marginally better than the 5k...still not what I was hoping for but at least they don't think I'm going backwards.

Always good to get a pb icenutter, well done!
JDA - Doesn't sound like you're too badly off there, a few weeks with some good mileage should see you in decent sted for York.
Interesting stat on my run today. Did a 7 (well just under) mile effort. Pace dropped after 3 miles, the cadence stayed fairly equal but stride length shortened. Is that a natural thing that happens with fatigue? I figured my cadence would drop first.

My cadence stays high when my stride length shortens Chris.

Sounds right to me Chris, my stride always gets shorter when I'm tired.
JDA, looks a decent HM that, maybe not what you were after but in the right ballpark. Just had a quick look at your cadence and it looks like you're not getting it as high as you used to. Do you think that's a result of the vaporflys?
No running for a week for me after finally deciding to give the feet a decent rest. Been cross training on the wife's spin bike, got to he old rowing machine out, and been using my sandbags for a bit of code work. Quite enjoying it and hopefully the extra core strength will help when the foot heals.

Ah ok its not something I've looked at before. I'd always assumed the cadence would drop off causing the slowdown.

Brunski, I think I've just got a bit lazy with the cadence in training. I'll try to improve on that as I'm sure it makes a difference to me.
Hope the break solves your foot issues, I'm sure it's the right answer for you at this point.

Sounds sensible Brunski and I'm sure none of the work will be wasted.
I have a naturally high cadence but my stride shortens when I'm tired or my legs or back are tight.

Better threshold set today, 4 x 10 min at 3:57/km is a pace I'd have been much happier with at the weekend. Speed and cadence kept pretty solid through the session too.

Too far....and a bit busy now. I'll just give myself a nominal 1:23:high and work from there
