Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Cue taper madness for you!!

I've built up from a couple of months of triathlon training, which involved mid-20's mpw running into the last 4 weeks 41, 55, 56, 51 (tri today so no long run this week). 7 weeks to go, so looking to maintain the quality and push up towards high-60s mpw. Speed is there and I feel strong, but surely my endurance base is lacking??

Change to my marathon programme this time round has seen intervals disappear in favour of MP style 'tempo' runs. Tues, Wed, Thurs are a big test, with a 8-10 miler on Tues (inc. 6-8m at MP-MP+15s), 12-15m on Wed and same sesh as Tues on Thurs. Hopefully this will really add the endurance. But I don't really have that long until tapering!!

Bit slow here!

Ran out of my skin on Sunday at Mablethorpe, to post a 3:02:32 - way faster than I'd believed. I thought I'd be around 3:08-3:10 at best.

Blog has the gory details, if you must --> http://www.fetcheveryone.com/blog_other.php?id=17554

Ran to a target HR rather than specific pace, but this coincided with doing 6'45 - 6'50 pace so I was "accidentally" running at sub-3 pace until tiring a little after 18 miles.

Recovery has been fine- 3 odd miles Mon and Tues. Gentle recovery runs for the rest of the week at least.

Great performance EPS - especially as you're weren't really aiming for a sub-3 time.

I ran 1:23 at the Bristol HM. not a PB, but McMillan predicts a 2:55 from that, so I'm on track for Abingdon. 2 big training weeks then a 3-week taper.

Rest day Monday, double yesterday including club session down at the track. 15 mile run back from work later.

Matt ... you are easy under sub 3 if you manage the last few days of training without too much trouble!

Great Result Ex.Pat Scot. And every mile under 7.30pace. Hopefully this will push you on to the magic sub 3hr mark next time round.
As for myself I've got 11days til my Berlin Marathon attempt. Now in taper mode and the only significant runs left is an easy 11miler tomorrow and my club's 4km race on Saturday.

Twopies - from your current form I would be expecting a 2:55 on the fast Berlin course, if conditions are right.

Take it easy during the taper- I find that the hardest part of training!

Hi John. If you're aiming for FLM sub 3 then this is the place to be. It's still a long way off though.

I wouldn't say that we are all there yet though- this is more of a "wanna be sub 3" thread (as opposed to the RW sub 3 thread, which is a "Sub 2:40" thread in the main).

Sorry John - when I said "a long way off", I meant that it's 7 months to FLM, NOT that you are way off a 3 hr pace!
