On Netflix for those who aren't aware, a shameless 'ommage to Stephen King and 80s US life in general - and lotsa fun (I'm only 3 episodes in). Anyone else enjoying it/having any thoughts about it?
Similarly hooked from episode 1. Love spotting all the references/ nods to things like ET, the Thing etc. Brilliantly creepy and mad and the girl at the centre of it is a brilliant young actor. I have the last episode to watch tonight so won't spoil it for you.
Think I have 4 episodes left to watch, but OH decided not to wait for me and watched to the end. She was not that impressed with the finish, but will continue watching
Am watching and just about going with it because of the nostalgia, though some bits are ridiculous (where the girl crawls into that tree!) and Ryder needs to spend at least one second without her eyes exploding out of her head or shouting.
Watched the first two tonight - because of this thread - and loved it. The kids are the gang from Stand By Me crossed with the gang from It. Meets Twin Peaks, meets E.T.
I agree that Winona Ryder has basically been given the direction 'chew everything in sight! Leave no scenery unchewed!' but I'm still enjoying the nostalgia-fest in the same way I enjoyed Super 8.
I have watched the whole series over the last week or so. I enjoyed it. It does get pretty outrageous but I quite enjoyed that. Series 2 coming as well although I think it's a while off.
Just finished it, excellent, for those that havent seen any of it, think the Goonies meets Stephen king meets Steven Speilberg meets any number of 80's movies plus tons of references to various iconic roles like E.T and Alien with a bit of Firestarter chucked in too, plus loads others, well worth a look
