Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Yep, I've done the macro thing before too (and coded it properly in VBA as well where necessary to deal with variably sized data sets too). In this particular case it isn't worth the effort though, but it is a useful reminder that it can be done.

Anyone have any online recommendations for how to learn about power query? Decent websites or YouTube channels?

Power Query is replacing macros and complex Lookup / nested functions, works faster and has a much smaller footprint. Can also work with millions of rows of data. It is a fantastic user tool.

If you need something with more power (Enterprise Level), you can go to SQL Server Integration Services.

Between the 2 M'soft ETL apps, Power Query is impressive and very easy to use. In Excel 2021 / latest version of Power BI, it can now extract information from PDFs. Prior to this I was writing VBA and using the APIs to extract data from a PDF. It is sooooo easy with Power Query

Quick question. I have some parkrun data from our running club runners. I'm setting up a club handicap event which I want to base on each runners 2nd or 3rd fastest run this year. I know how to use a pivot to get their Min/Max but not their xth best. I know I can get all their data and sort it but I was wondering if one of you could help with a better solution. Thanks
