WP - she's amazing, strong mind and determined.

Big G - just saw the pics on FB of your run today, muddy is a tentative description I think. 🤣 Good red Devon mud in places.

Survived hygienist appointment, I have a purple tongue 😛

Ha ha, I hadn’t seen the pics until just now. But yes, it was quite muddy :) Simon B loves the mud! For me it’s just a social run, getting outside and chance for a chat, but not sure if it’s actual ‘training’ as such. Garmin never seems particularly impressed with the effort, but I enjoy it, and I count it as part of my mileage, so no problem.

I’ve said it before but it really does emphasise that I’m really bad at off-road. Most of the group are far better than me at running on the particularly gloopy or technical stuff - I tend to slide or stutter to a walk, whereas they tend to plod on over anything. It’s a skill I don’t have!

Big G - I'm sure it's all good training. Keeping your balance requires strength and good proprioception practice, core work too.

Rob - Yes would be interested in the routes myself before making mind up and yes south london at night could be er interesting ;)

Shades - Aye the shenanigans the 100 club seem to get commentated on about kinda makes me think why would i need to join them. I have plenty of nice running tops already.

lol just looked at weather forecast for friday.

it's been upgraded from peak winds of 80 mph to er 94 mph currently. I would not be surprised if we got a red warning slapped on us

Ian - have a lovely time. Nice for warm weather training.

Don't worry about us while we await Storm Eowyn. Don't think it'll be too bad down here in Devon but Keith looks to be in the eye of the storm.

Ian - Have a great time. Some interesting strava art of your running route out there :)

20min tempo in my 8 miler to office yesterday. Not done a tempo since early December due to my bout of illness and combined with strength work last night and felt pretty beat up this morning. 8 miles slow into work sorted me out though. Training coming along now and hopefully can kick on when this elusive treadmill hopefully arrives next Thursday. The jokers came round yesterday but 3 hours early so no one to let them in.

About This Thread

Maintained by Shades
Back in December 2005 I started a thread on Runner's World offering a marathon training plan on 3 runs a week. I had my own running club at the time (Womens Running Network) and I had successfully trialled the training plan when I took a group of girls to Dublin to run their first marathon.

Over the years the thread has evolved into a chat thread, with a bit of training advice, race reports, for predominantly marathon runners.
