57.5 Degrees of Pain
Newtonmore 10 in March is fast in good weather, decent spread of times in a small field and a good feed after. I missed out on the Beer Festival last year (and the 1mile Sunday recovery run) but had a few post race pints with the organisers and marshals. Sorry to hear about Hamish OC. A stalwart of the northern running scene and an early supporter of Inverness parkrun. |

Brampton to Carlisle is slightly net downhill with the prevailing wind at your tail. Great for PBs

57.5 Degrees of Pain
Did I post this before? Brought to you by the ED of Fort William parkrun. fortwilliamrunningfestival.com For those who want some fascinating speakers, challenging running and don't mind the midges! Speaking of troublesome small beasties, I removed more ticks from myself after a short run in the woods yesterday than any run I have ever done. Fortunately only one of the 16 had attached before I got to it. |

I have also done Smokies and wear the cotton tee when doing housework. 10 Ten, nice flat route. Haven't done Ballater since the January floods which washed away the bridge and a change of a bit if the course was needed...bit too trail and close to the edge of the river especially if it was raining. Like a 10 mile distance though.

Brampton to Carlisle is a fast 10 miler and also very well organised. I know a few Scottish clubs support it. Lossiemouth turkey trot 10 miler in December is also fast - but weather dependent. Always found 10 milers hard to judge - not heading off at 10k pace but running faster than half marathon. |

57DoP - 16, sheesh, that's horrid. I have run hundreds (thousands?) of miles through grass, ferns, heather, trees, bogs and all the tick loving places of the world, always in shorts, and had never had a tick. Until last summer at our new gaffe. And bizarrely it was on my arm! I thought it was a seed pod or something and tried to flick it off. It wasn't going anywhere. So time to deploy the tick removal tool we had in the house. I did not enjoy that! Must have come out OK though, cos it's not there now! I nearly went down to Brampton to Carlisle one year, just to get a 10 mile time for Fetch logs really. But Lasswade is it now. Even though it's a "soft" PB, I probably won't ever beat it. Enjoy Black Rock folks, I may come along to cheer! G |

Weather looks decent for BR5, might be a bit windy on the way out to the Rock
