Has anyone here ever done the 'Round Cumbrae 10'? 10 mile races are difficult to find and Millport was the destination of my first primary school trip - cough, some time ago. It sounds like a lovely excuse for a return to see the Crocodile Rock and in a moment of madness, I've entered. Happiness is a Calmac ferry trip.

Zen I ran that route a few weeks ago as the Millport Fun Run. The race is the same route with different competitors. I blogged about it if you want to read. If it’s 10 mile races you want... the Templeton 10 is open now. Race in early November. It’s a tough one.

OC. Sorry to hear of his passing. A stalwart of the club scene.

Another great 10 miler is the Kyles 10 miles at the beginning of September. Actually the 14th this year, so seems they’ve moved it back a week. Did it a few years ago and really enjoyed it. If getting there by public transport (as I did) you’ll need to spend the Friday night there, either in the campsite a few miles down the coast, or in one if the B&Bs in Kames or Tighnabruaich.

Millport is the easiest of the three ten mile races mentioned, the other two are undulating alright.

Have you done them all, Ally? If so, how does Templeton compare to Kyles?

I’ve done the three, I would say Templeton and Kyles are much of a muchness tbh. Slower time for Templeton, but was ultra training for the Kyles.

I’ll think about Templeton. No races planned for after Loch Ness at the moment, and it’s always good to have something to keep you going after a marathon.
