Lasswade 10 is the only 10 miler I've done. I deliberately did it because it was a 10 mile road race and I stupidly thought I could get a decent time on it. A combination of crazy steep hills (down as well as up) and atrocious weather meant it was a bit of a 'mare. Cumbrae should be lovely in comparison! Don't miss the ferry!
Well done Bazo at a PB equalling parkrun this weekend past! G

Lasswade is a nightmare containing maybe 200m of flat at the end but that’s on a rutted farm track. That plus two pretty challenging ups.

Lasswade is in our club championship (and was for my previous club), but never got round to entering. Maybe next year.

The 10 miler around Starthclyde Loch is fairly flat, it's in March ( I think) but if the weather is good the paths can be busy with non- runners, kids on bikes and dogs

Indeed SoaPM, the Tom Scott is the one race which I would like to: start earlier; and be run in marginally unappealing weather.
Lasswade is my 10 mile PB (from four different events) thanks to BigAlW pacing me. Tay Ten is my preferred one.

I’ve done all the 10 mile races mentioned earlier, but, just noticed while checking times, there’s a Ballater 10 mile race too.
If it still exists!

I've done the Ballater 10 several times and it still exists, even though I've not done it for a few years. Lovely route. I still wear the cotton t shirt I got one year as a jammie top. Another year we got a Ballater 10 branded bar of chocolate from a local cafe 😀

Rather undulating with an off road section, if I recall correctly Mrs S.

Tay 10 is a flat and in theory PB course, but the twice I've ran it I've never had that good a run. My PB course is Brampton to Carlisle - from Edinburgh it was quicker to get to Carlisle than say Fort William, so don't write it off if you're central Scotland. It's a fast course, and plenty fast people from the north of England clubs and borders to pull you round to a good time. The only possible negative is it's point to point and direction east to west, so could be a head wind. However, you can ( or at least could up to 2 years ago ) enter on the day, so can wait and see what the weather's like before deciding

Yes Ally, that describes it perfectly. When I did it you had to run on the grass all the way round Monaltrie Park to finish but I think they've changed the finish now.
