Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Evening

Great news on the GNR place DT

Nice miles wardi nice to be able to delay for the weather to warm up

Well done on getting the 10 in LMH

OO sounds a lovely club run hope the knee improves. Enjoy the derby. I always think derby marches are hard to enjoy but if you win the best matches ever. I am old enough to have watched Wednesday beat sheff utd at Hillsborough 4-0 in 1978/9 we still sing about the Boxing Day massacre. Was also at Wembley when we beat them in the FA cup semi final. Have seen us loose a few as well but try and forget them

Great mile time 0061

No running today planned a rest day between my first and second night shifts . Will run on Friday before my 3rd shift body clock will be sorted. Did lots of calf raises and rehab work though. Achilles feeling fine.

I did the GNR is 2004 - it was really busy then!

TR - I don't believe in making it any more difficult for myself than it needs to be.

Thanks OO61. I've ordered some therapy putty so that I can start on the exercises I was given yesterday to try to maintain/increase strength and function.

I noticed a few slippery patches again yesterday too Wardi and I wasn't out until after 1100hrs.

OuchOuch
Riggsy - Those are wonderful derby memories especially winning at Wembley. I am less passionate these days, and flirting strongly with Plymouth Argyle, compared to when I was younger and following Cardiff meant soo much more.

OO61 - Am sure in better weather with a solid block you will be troubling sub 5.30 miling again. Snooker, now that's nostalgic, such a popular pastime in the day (even had my own cue).

Wardi - 8.7 miles sounds good, sunny even better.

Knee already improved significantly. Another rest day today and give Cardiff PR a reasonable go tomorrow. Its fast & flat & popular. I've run in twice, 18.05 & 18.12, so anything 18.XX would be good.

Good news on the achilles Riggsy, good to crack on now?

LMH - it does make me smile, but you might get blocks of several days in a row as off or on, you might need a bit more balance.

Ouch - 18:XX would be good January leg speed

Minimal bike commute only yday and today, I've had a lot of non running days in the last 2 months. Physio last night, told me to give it a test and let him know how it goes, so will do that at the weekend sometime.

Difficult to balance TR. Working Sunday so know I won't be running then or Wednesday or Friday so big week this week (comparatively speaking) and lighter next two weeks due to work. Don't test to destruction eh?

Pants run today. Quit at six miles. Tired, niggly and head not in it. Unfortunately forecast to be freezing again tomorrow.

LMH - not surprised today you've had a lot of miles in a row this week. 4 runnng days next week sounds good.........Ill do something super short, so i can stop before it hurts, something like 30 sevonds........more seriously I'm not sure i even want to ask the question, as it'll piss me off if its a no.

Keep it easy. Walk or very slow run a warm up then stay near home and just keep it comfortable TR.

OO I still have my cue, found it in a dusty box in the attic. I did Cardiff in 2023 (when I was 60) and also ran 18:12. Didn't bother chasing the v60 record though, 16:11, set in 2013 😳
Quite a big week here, should be near 60 miles. Not expecting much tomorrow at parkrun.
Hope you get a good run LMH, and fingers crossed TR....

LMH.. pity about today's run, I do have the odd run like that occasionally.

TR.. hope the brief test run is positive.

OO.. enjoy the Parkrun, looks a bit warmer down there than up here. Good news on your knee.

OO61.. ditto, have a good run in the morning. My main 3 local Parkruns are all subject to inspection as temps are 0 degrees overnight.

As above not sure about Parkrun if there's ice about. I'll decide in the morning.

5.2m today, another afternoon run to avoid the ice.

Hi

Fetch has said us RW refugees can relocate here. I know there are existing sub3 and 3.15 threads, but the fetch threads seem to be for more infrequent posters. The RW threads are more of a daily diary.

We'll see how it goes.

I'm a M57 hanging on to sub3. I'm unattached harriers so like a place to talk a bit of running and find some inspiration and accountability.
