Lmh, yes it is. Bizarrely my most enjoyable one was 2018 when it was hot. I was stood on Blackheath, sun was shining and it was already really warm. London had just introduced the new gfa rules reducing my age to 3.05 and limiting it to 3000.
In my head it would probably be my last London as I wouldn't get a gfa again and I didn't want to kill myself in process so abandoned all ambition and just set out to enjoy the procession. Bizarrely few others changed their goals and the blow ups from half way were wild. As a result of the lifting of pressure and the casual start I run an even run, matched my pb to the second and got a gfa. I finished 1000 places higher up than 2017 and ran an identical time of 3.04. In 2023 I ran 2.48 and finished a mere 200 places higher than 2018.
But it really was a very enjoyable occasion.

Little Miss Happy
That was me last year DT19 - apart from freezing before the start. Had lost enough training to a virus to know that I was nowhere near sub 3 so just wanted to finish and 'earn' the sponsor money and had my best day out in London yet.

DT19.. best wishes to your Mrs, that must be very stressful for you both. I ran London on 2018 too. That's the trouble with UK spring marathons, I've done the two hottest Londons plus the coldest, along with others in hailstones and pouring rain!
Riggys.. not entirely surprised you were tired after a traumatic week. Hope you feel revived after a good snooze.
TR.. 5m is encouraging, easy does it for now.
LMH.. good news on the London accommodation, I went down last year to support and thought it had become very expensive down there.
I did go to Parkrun eventually as the temps this morning were a touch warmer than forecast - no ice at all. I took it easy today as I am at the tail end of a head cold. Felt ok afterwards so added miles on to make it 11.3m.

DT - I hope Mrs DT is already feeling be tter and improves quickly. You've quite a bit of a time/work/life juggling act going on. Class run 2018 in London, 1000 places better! I've never had the luxury of not chasing a time in any marathon. This Saturdays will be the 1st.
LMH - Solid mileage, augers well for a good London.
Wardi - London does seem to get the far by hottest day of the year award, an unpleasant shovk to winter trained marathoners. OO61 - Nice sub 20 trail PR. TR - Build up slowly, keep loose and you will be eating up weekly long runs in a few weeks time. Riggsy - It's been a hectic time for you. If you've the time have a listen to the BBC show I haven't got a clue, from Sheffield. A few funny Sheff Wednesday jokes you will find funny.
Talking of football, the best day of supporting Cardiff in maybe 10 years as we won the derby game convincingly 3-0. I know DT will be happy too. Followed an 18.45 PR earlier, could gave been a tad quicker but forgot my barcode so took away the race mentality. Weather looking unsurprisingly wintry for next weeks winter marathon!

I hope MrsDT is starting to improve, DT19.
Nice parkrunning, OO61.
I'm glad the test run was OK, TR, and hopefully no adverse affects today.
No huge news from me: a busy week at work, so only managed a recovery run on Monday (3 miles: I've got quite fond of my short and sweet recovery runs on a Monday!), s&c on Wednesday, a steady 6 on Thursday, s&c yesterday and 9 miles today.

Ouch - sharp pace there. Lots of those teams down the bottom have changed their manager, worked for Oxford recently too. Pompey should keep theirs as he is a bright prospect.
Jools - that's a good mix.
How did you get on DT?
6m today, had a bit of a hammy nerve pinch late on but it eased off, and just stayed tight, rather than still giving the nerve pinch. No running tomorrow.
11 weeks til the b of the bang, could be an 8 week block. First races of the year are 2 and 3 weeks away, so can't see those happening.

OO.. that's a brisk Parkrun, similar to my best back in the day.
Sad footie story.. I was regularly going to Toon games home and away in the late 80's, 90's, early 2000's. There was a group of us that went to most home & away games. Amongst them was John 'the Undertaker' Alder ( he always wore a black suit and white shirt on match day). He only missed one game in 30 years due to illness. He was sadly killed in the MH17 plane that was shot down over Ukraine in 2014, on his way to an overseas pre season friendly. I still think of him and wonder what he would think of the improved fortunes that are happening at the club recently. Sadly missed.
OO61.. 19.30 is good going on a trail Parkrun. BTW one of my fast club lads was in the Newcastle 10k yesterday morning. Not sure if he was 'invited' or because his coach is from up there. 6th in 30.20 against some decent runners.
TR.. 6m is good, hope you can continue to make progress.
Jools.. you're still putting a decent mix of miles & exercises together, good stuff.
4m this morning then went to spectate at the Brass Monkey in a nearby village. The leader was well ahead at 7m, missed the course record by a few seconds (Marders set it in 2011, 65.21). Another 4m this afternoon totted up 61m for the week.

Nice work Jools and good to hear from you. Good news TR- I think. You got out and your off. Hopefully the niggle eases. Great mileage Wardi. Yes happy with parkrun thanks. The quayside 10k was organised by 'run through'. They give free entry to top athletes and decent prizes for the winners. I'd have got 1st v60 if I'd run but no prizes for that....My daughter got a free place and came 10th. Her coach who's a V40 lady came 3rd with sub 36. Well done to your mate. A good contingent from my club did the Brass Monkey and some great times. I heard the 4th place man got DQd for having bone conducting headphones round his neck even though not wearing them. I know the lad, he's from Keswick AC. The 2nd and 3rd V60s are my local rivals- good lads... I ran 14 for a 63 week. More than planned.

Solid work, oo on the parkrun.
Jools, seems like you have a reasonable balance.
Ouchouch, solid parkrun. Could you not just get your barcode up on phone? Next two games are pretty critical for city.
Tr, positive stuff again. Forget next races just focus on the mara.
Wardi, sounds like quite a character. A sad and unfortunate ending though. I assume conditions were spot on at Brass monkey. My mate ran 75.40 for a 5 min pb. The interesting part was the last 3m were comfortably his fastest. He finished lije he'd left some out there. Suspect he'll be ahead of me in Tokyo.
Wife remains in hospital and well in herself but her face is horribly swollen and presenting quite the mystery to a number of specialists.
Managed my 21m with 4 easy then 6 at mp which averaged 6.08 then 3 easy, 2 mp, 2 easy, 2 mp, 2 easy. That gives me 69m for week which is my biggest since September. My garmin vo2 hit 70 which is the highest I've ever registered. Objectively it means nothing, but subjectively I think it does match my thoughts that I've taken a step up last few weeks.
