Now what we need to do is calm down and step away from the Fetchforks, the legal system knows what to do here.

Fetchilantes! :-O

Well done the Met and the public for helping to identify him. Be *very* interesting to see how this develops, what he's charged with, what defence, if any, he tries to mount.

Chelsea. Hmmm. Immediately prejudiced assumptions by me? Much? Moi?! :-) G

It was reported earlier (Times) that police were checking strava records ..
Which raises a few questions :-
1) Are such louts attracted to strava or does strava use lead to such aggression?
2) Why not other tracking tools - eg Garmin, Mapmyrun, or even (dare I say it) Fetch?
3) Could Lord Fetch identify anyone with training at a specific location, date and time?
4) If so, would it need a warrant or other persuasion from the police to 'share' that info?

( and what level of crime would allow such access ?)
Noting I'd be all in favour in this case - but is there a level where sharing such info would not be appropriate?

Seems the rested / bailed person has suddenly aged - now 50 ??

4) pretty sure a warrant would be needed - that's what I've been told is the case if police come to my workplace wanting info about someone from our computers

People who are OK with putting running data on something like strava shouldn't have a problem with it being accessible to Police, even if you have privacy turned on. If you want total anonymity then use a spreadsheet!

My "Chelsea" semi-tongue-in-cheek comment above was, perhaps not a "lout", perhaps a perfectly well-to-do, but arrogant, git? So definitely a strava or any other run-logging site user (except Fetch obv!)

I'd hope a warrant was required. Fetch GPS data (e.g. Fetchpoint, Conquercise etc.) allows you to place people quite accurate, date, time, pace etc.!

I really can not think of any defence the guy can have.
