I heard that, Julli. Made my blood boil. Where do the BBC get off trying to make out we are all aggressive idiots? They were suggesting we should all run on tracks

If you look at it in slow motion (almost frame by frame) - he comes off his line a little and then pushes her - her leg comes out as she loses balance. I would hope that the police would have done this analysis before releasing it with their statement. I'm slightly alarmed at some views on this from quarters where it's being reported - regardless of whether the traffic is behind you or not - pushing someone into busy road is likely to have one consequence.

It's maybe surprising that the presence of cyclists on pavements hasn't been aligned to this issue.

am I dreaming or did the BBC news report that he was seen on camera coming back over the bridge 15 minutes later while emergency services were still on the scene? Why didn't they stop him there and then?

Yes, I read that, too. The report I read said that someone (not sure who) had tried to speak to him and he'd ignored them.

Even if (if!) A woman appeared to stick her leg out at me when running you would assume it wasn't intentional and certainly, old fashioned as I am, I think a man pushing a slightly built woman (or anyone not his size amd age and fitness) is outright cowardice and not to even bother to stop is awful. It's a deliberate 'hit and run' from what evidence is available and he should come forward and explain his actions if it wasn't.

Re: the comments on the radio about aggressive joggers. I wonder if, now running's so popular, it'll come in for the same treatment/disdain as cycling does?
This matters, in part, because you'll start to see more motorists disobeying race marshalls' instructions.

(And as a result, more reports of runners hit by cars during races.)
