It is still one from NZ, France, Ireland and South Africa for me. Who ever comes out of Wales, Argentina, England and Fiji gets run over in the semis. |

Pretty wide open across the top 4 betting wise and also on the park. Still another couple of rounds of fixtures to go though.

My point was that if the rankings are the be-all and end-all, then in theory you don't need to play any further games to decide who is the greatest. Of course we all know that's not true, because on their day, any of the top eight are capable of shocking those stats (except Wales and New Zealand, it seems - but we'll give it another go if we get the chance). And a little bit of jeopardy in the groups provides some excitement to break up the exhibition matches. For example, Scotland battling Ireland and SA this time round (c'mon Scotland); and the Wales-England-Australia clash in 2015. That one was great fun. Anyway, I've just read that world rugby have confirmed they will do the draw closer to the tournament next time round. Wales were 28-1 at the end of March. |

Reckon it's worth a tenner on Fiji to make the final. If I were a betting kind of guy

fetcheveryone I've got no issue with which teams play in the knockout stages, if you played well enough to get out of your group you absolutely belong on the QF etc. If you've got time it would be great to analyse the group rankings, maybe previous groups have been just as unfair as the one Scotland have ended up in. I think the reason I'm banging on about it is because this the best Scottish team in *years* and it sucks that they probably won't qualify. In 4 years time they might not be such a good team and it will be a shame. Also I'm really scared for France vs SA, it's going to be brutal |

England 10/1 Wales 16/1 Says everything you need to know about how stupid gambling is. Or gamblers. Right, off to put a tenner on Wales to make it to the final (8/1, if you're asking!) G |

It’s not just about the winner and even if it was, making the top team play knockout games against nos 2, 3 and 4 on the way would greatly reduce their chances. There are good reasons for seeding, but not much point when it’s done so stupidly. Quite. The current system isn't random draw, and it does a poor job of seeding, it's not fit for any purpose other than helping fans of the seeded teams book tickets early. And a random draw would do that equally well. |

It's not as bad as random - just Scotland were unlucky, or to be honest, the whole Ireland / SA / NZ side of draw unlucky. And England lucky, of course! G
