Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Overall I think that was an excellent World Cup. I like that all sections of the game played together as one tournament. It made it very inclusive.

Whilst here I will just say again what a wonderful person Kevin Sinfield is.

I think it was a mixed success. The wheelchair and women's events were superb. Too many one-sided games - really only a couple of the group matches, two of the quarter finals and the two semi finals that were really close, tense games in the men's comp. Half a million tickets sold was decent but some poor crowds for some games due to the pricing. That said, I went to 11 games in all, enjoyed every one and some great memories of the fans of Tonga, Samoa, Fiji, Greece etc. and particularly the women's double header with thousands of kids at Headingley.

i tend to agree. saw 6 matches including final. that was never close and aus were so dominant. shame the pricing was so wrong. at some games the prices were crazy. cheaper ones were available in most. as those ones i went for. there was some belters too. very disappointed in eng. so poor agst samoa

Superleague kicks off tonight, with Warrington vs Leeds. No doubt 2023 will be Warrington's year, it being nearly 70 years since their last title...

It does look like a few teams can challenge Saints though - apart from the two above, Huddersfield look strong and Wigan, Catalans and Hull will all fancy their chances.

Penrith Panthers against St. Helens in the World Club Challenge from Australia early Saturday morning (available on Channel 4 as well as Sky, I think) and then Hull KR v Wigan is on C4 at Saturday lunchtime.

I’m really pessimistic about Hulls chances this year. Not sure why but I don’t have a good feeling at all. Just a little underwhelmed by the changes this year.

St. Helens 12-0 up just after half-time in the world club challenge. Torrential rain in the Blue Mountains.

About This Thread

As suggested on the blog of the esteemed @kev-eats-owt this is a place to discuss all things relating to rugby league. The Superleague season kicks off this weekend, the NRL in early March and hopefully we have a world cup to look forward to in the Autumn.
