Is anyone interested in joining me for a training run through the night of part of the ridgeway course? Next sat night 8th August. My suggestion which is flexible would be to meet at the point the Ridgeway crosses nr Junction 15 of M4 at about 8.30pm, then all get in 1 car and drive back to where it crosses A34, run along the ridgeway for about 18miles, at about 10minute mile pace, then drive back to fetch the car that was left behind. So we should be finished by about 1am

Hi Insomniac, I'd be up for a night training run this Sat. if you're still planning to.
Did you go for the recce in the night then? How did it go?
Now, I'm just trying to put the route on my Garmin eTrex. On page 17 of this thread Nightjar has put some great links to the route in 6 sections. I'm wondering how to put these on my Garmin and whether I can join them up to make one big route. Does anyone know of what is the best software to use for this sort of thing. I'm on mac but have access to a PC if need be.
Hope everyone's training has gone well - I'm really looking forward to this one now.
I did do a night run with Zoyen, I've just written a blog about it if you're interested.
I'm well into my taper, feeling the fittest I've ever been, but still panicking I've not trained enough, and I've peaked too soon and will have broken something by next weekend.
I've decided not to use my Garmin, I was going to borrow a second one, but I think I'd get too confused, will just stick to map, and a stop watch. Might use the Garmin just to make sure I don't run too quickly for the first 30miles
Sounds like you had a good night out. I like the idea of the Swindon lights.
I suppose carrying a Garmin would mean that I might be able to work out where I am on the map, even if I don't put the routes on it.

Likewise Insomniac, training's gone well and raced well earlier, and bit nervous have peaked too soon.
Looking forward to this very much as well. Mental preparation's been going on for a long while, want this to come along now! Getting bit bored with taper, doing a slow long-ish one today with a friend, then almost nothing. Trying not to walk near anything for fear of also breaking something! Good to read earlier about the headtorches, going for the Petzl Myo XP. Loading some reccies of the route onto Garmin now, just in case...
