I have a related question that I thought this thread might be able to help me with. We have a 3 man tent which has passed it's best (it leaks despite reproofing and resealing seams). I was going to take it to the dump but then I wondered if someone might reuse the fabric? I'm thinking those reusable shopping bags that fold up for in your handbag or similar. I know I've seen bags made from reused parachute silk previously.

Thanks for the recipe SS! I have a few of those ingredients already and lots of essential oils.

V'rap - same here. I don't use deodorant any more either, I just make sure that I am clean and my clothes are clean if I leave the house. Either it works, or else my colleagues/friends are too polite to comment.

The only time I've used deodorant in the last decade is when I've been to conferences in hot countries (which is twice...).

I find stopping using something much easier than finding an environmentally better alternative. (The same with milk, the methane form cows is terrible environmentally, so I cut out dairy. It was easier to have coffee black and porridge with water than to work out which fake-milk is the best for the environment!)

I’m not sure I am ready for the no deodorant step. First use of my shampoo and conditioner this morning. It is a bit more faff and it’s weird not to have lather but my hair feels good.

I have a 4 year old nephew so a kite could work. If I had any sewing skills I could make some bags but alas I am inept with a sewing machine.

If you're patient and motivated you could hand-sew the bags ;)

Patient? You clearly don’t know me well. I’m not sure my hand sewing is any better.

Quite soothing, I'd have thought, once the cutting and pinning was done.

(I can only do the most rudimentary sewing, and knitting a shopping bag out of scrap bamboo yarn did my head in with the tedium.)
