Ohhh wooden toys? 2nd hand is good too... What about vouchers to experience things- soft play, zoo, day out on a boat, trip to beach or cinema?

Seeds to grow things indoors or out. Sunflowers, cress, magic beans. Cookie ingredients in a glass jar with a recipe. We used to buy powder paint in tins but I don't know if you can still get it or if you have to buy it ready mixed now.

The best presents for 3 year olds are boxes that are being chucked out.....big boxes that they can play with, draw on, bash, hide in, create slides, create homes and where ever else their imagination takes them

Ha! The first 3rd birthday child is about to move house, so I bet cardboard boxes would be appreciated by their parents right now and by him later... I like the growing things idea SS.
I'm trying to keep gift spending to around a tenner per present, since my kids need to take two to everything (!). Babipur is gorgeous, but expensive. I struggled with experiences too, trying to find something I could afford... Some good ideas to think about though definitely.
Off to check out carp's website suggestion now too.

Why two, WL, I'm sure that one from Pip and Squeak would be perfectly acceptable?
