Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Yeah Cav's only hope was Bennett being injured really as Lefebvre said he'd only take one sprinter. Also Jakobson is going to the Vuelta, so Cav won't have a chance at a big Tour this year (and he will struggle next year).

Or maybe he'll be fired up after getting tantalisingly close to being "back"?

Any chance he'll be riding on the track in the Madison etc at the Olympics? Would be good to see him get something "big" out of this season.

Yeah to see Froome try and fall so short, it’s frustrating that cav is in shape without the platform to perform.

Hints Cav could also go to the Vuelta I see, but nothing definite.

Brought my in-depth Tour de France guide but not onto the vuelta yet. Many sprinters opportunities?

I didn't think there was (commentators have alluded to this I think), but like you haven't checked.

There are eight nominally flat stages, and a quick look through suggests few of them have lumpy finishes that would distance sprinters or their trains. So whilst nothing is guaranteed, there should be rich pickings for the sprinters.

Yeah thanks Mud. The official blurb has 4 decent sprint chances first week.

Bennett has earned the right to be the unquestioned no 1 and I still think there's questions about Cav anyway (and Lefevere has indicated the same) so it's the right choice.

The Vuelta is supposed to be for Jakobsen who is likely to be their no 1 sprinter next year from what I've read. I guess if Cav is showing the form to make it seem like he could be the no 1, then things could change a little.
