Welcome MB and an interesting nick.....I can only think of Magic Roundabout at present and it being banned in Singapore!!! Anyway with regards to your question, personally I found Pose improves your prioperception of how you are running, enabling you to adjust your form when niggles start to appear. I have only had 2 running injuries since I completed a Pose course with CableTow (op of this thread) at the end of 2009. One on very soft packed snow and had to be pulled off at 60 miles with an achilles injury and the other was a 100 miler where I did something stupid and put on a knee brace becos I heard there were lots of hills and I lost confidence and thus injured my hamstring on a 100 miler. However that is out 46 marathons/ultras in 4 years. At the beginning of my marathon running I was injured in 4 out of my first 4 marathons over 4 years! It took me about a year and a bit to not have to mentally think about how I run all the time, and now its whenever I feel a niggle due to tiredness and poor form. Anyway there are folks on here who found it worked well for them and brought their times down and others who were unable to quite grasp certain aspects. So yes used drills and still return to them when have lost the feeling. I prefer a coach rather than watching vids as found that it was easier to understand....There are plenty of coaches on this forum. Good luck with the journey |

Thanks rf. Not sure I'll ever be completing ultramarathons but good to hear the method works and that you keep coming back to it - if you didn't, that would speak volumes. I'm going to try the vids, and if there are some things that don't make sense/I don't "get", I'll search out a coach or a course. Thanks!

Hi All, I'm after a bit of advice please. I've been running since 2010 and I'm very interested in learning the Pose method (my technique is poor as I heel strike). I would probably need to have some personal coaching to be sure I was getting it right and wondered if anyone knew how long a session normally lasts and how many I would need to get a good idea of the technique. I don't have a great deal of disposable income, so would depend on overall cost. What is the best way to find a coach in my area as well? I also came across a book on Amazon "The Running Revolution". Is anyone familiar with this book? Would it be worthwhile buying and are there any other books that anyone could recommended? amazon.co.uk I would also like to know if minimalist running shoes are a must when switching to this method, or any other advice and useful info. Thanks. |

Are you in W Scotland Plb? The only Pose coach I knew in Scotland was Boab (here in Edinburgh) but I don't think he does it any more. eL Bee was a Pose coach based in Cumbria, but he is only cycling now. Cabletow was, but don't see him on here much, and he's down in that London or somewhere south. I'd try fmailing eL Bee and ask him. Very little chat about Pose on Fetch as you can see recently! There are a number of other "running form" schools though. Chi Running seems to be followed a lot if my Facebook feed is anything to go by. Maybe try googling that too? Good luck. G |

Aha, goodo eL Bee. I didn't actually say you weren't coaching. By "only cycling", I meant "not running". Honest. I did suggest fmailing you! G

Thanks Guys Yes G I'm still W Scotland so would need someone in or close to Glasgow. By the way, I'm sure you mentioned way back on one of the threads that you had a pair of Vibram Five Fingers. How did you find them? I know it's a very slow process in getting used to them but just wondered how they worked for you. Or am I getting confused with someone else? el Bee, are sessions normally run by the hour or on a daily basis for the Pose Method? Is there an average number of sessions a person tends to have? |

eL Bee!
Pinkliverbird - different coaches do things differently, but I have found that doing an initial full day followed by short follow up sessions works well for cracking the basics and making sure that bad habits don't creep in while you are consolidating
