Id always thought of the lib dems historically as centre rather than left of centre.

Lib dems happy to endorse and and enable austerity for a sniff of power, a step up from their dog murdering antecedents

So maybe they're a bit more right of centre then.

They're certainly not right of centre in our current politics. Maybe their policies would have been 20 odd years ago but not any more.

theguardian.com "Israel’s war in Gaza amounts to genocide, Amnesty International report finds" Only a year later than anyone with an ounce of humanity reached the same conclusion, but no doubt a year or more ahead of the UK govt still. |

No comments on the French government collapse? Centrism pairing up with fascism doesn't go well shocker. Funnily enough you can't win votes with a minority. The left's proposal of Lucie Castets originally was a sensible choice, she is from the mainstream socialist party and not Melenchon's wing, her background suggests nothing so radical as to scare the horses (civil servant and economics lecturer). Refused to accept Macron's pension changes is basically the sticking point. But instead Macron's morally bankrupt centrist clown car decided to side with Barnier, and then when Le Pen predictably blew it up (as she was ALWAYS going to), the French government now stands at the abyss of a complete shutdown. |

Also a political American assassination of the CEO of United Healthcare. The bullet casings contained the words "Deny Defend Depose" itv.com Quite clearly a reference to the "Deny Defend Delay" tactics that healthcare companies use to not pay out on claims in the US. So common even a book was titled that: amazon.co.uk Be clear I am not defending a political assassination in anyway, and we will need to see the fugitive brought to justice before it can all come to light. But the wording is not a coincidence. |

The French situation has similarities to our own. A lack of compromise when there is broadly a 3 way split is going to end in paralysis. Or someone being in power that can push through policy without a broad mandate, as is often the case here. Seems like much of the West has forgotten how to do consensus politics. Putin and the rest will be pissing themselves laughing. |

Macron would rather work with fascists than the left. He will be for the chop soon
