So for senate watchers. The race has ended 53-47, right? Not so quick.

The called race in PA, turns out there's 100,000 left with the Repub leading by just under 35,000. The reason why it was called because the remaining votes come from a Republican favouring county... Except turns out there are 15,000-20,000 provisional ballots in Philadelphia (which broke 80% dem). The republican is now suing to stop those being counted.

(Note "a provisional ballot (called an affidavit ballot in New York) is used to record a vote when there are questions about a given voter's eligibility that must be resolved before the vote can count."

The fact alone that he's suing suggests that he's not comfortable of things going his way. The Democrat senator is refusing to concede currently.

The states that changed hands (to Republican) were:

Georgia
Michigan
Nevada
Pennsylvania
Wisconsin

It does look like the Latino swing would have made quite a difference in most of those states based on the exit poll. Would be useful to see the same data for 2020 for those states.

Latino racism going down big time from some Democrat quarters already sadly, blaming this demographic for Trump.

Racism towards them because they didn't vote against racism is pretty stupid.

I guess the question is whether they end up regretting their vote. I think they would have been quite clear that they were pulling up the door behind them in terms of immigration. The only way they'd be directly affected by deportations would be if there was denaturalisation plan. Whether they get the economic benefit they expect is TBD.

Oh and some BBC journalistic bias for you, check out the reporting on the disgraceful scenes from the Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters.

Check the BBC news first, then check the Daily Mail version for a more accurate version.... (yes indeed!!!!!)

bbc.co.uk

and then

dailymail.co.uk

Maccabi Tel Aviv are well known for their far right supporters, bit like Lazio in Italy. They booed through a minutes silence at the Ajax game for Valencia because Spain recently stopped sending money for Israeli arms. They chanted racist slogans on a verified video by several news outlets while being protected by a police cordon. They climbed a building and removed a Palestinian flag. There are allegations that they also targeted and attacked Muslim supporters but I can't find verification for this, although they done previously in the past. Ironic given Ajax club has very strong Jewish links, before 1939. Then they were attacked by Ajax supporters after the game (and we know that Dutch football has a big hooligan problem). And this is then described as an anti-semitic incident.

I really don't know what to make of it all @Chrisull. I'm getting "Boy Who Cried Wolf" vibes out of it all, perhaps that's downplaying the incident but I also feel it just becomes dangerous in future as many people will ignore other instances of anti-semitism.

I suspect yesterday may well be a case of both sides being in the wrong.

And next up for Maccabi Tel Aviv is a trip to the ground known as "Hell" and Besiktas, in Istanbul. Unless UEFA make some kind of changes. Their last European "home" match - in Belgrade - included quite a visual protest from the Real Sociedad fans. And there's been at least other protests in European matches this season, notably PSG and Celtic among others.

How can you validate that the DM version is more accurate than the BBC article Chris?

Wouldn't solve the immediate issue, but I do think Israel should be shunned by the sporting world in the same way as apartheid South Africa was, their clubs and national teams should be banned.

From what I've seen, at least the DM has reported both sides. The early version of the Guardian story I saw only reported one side though has now corrected that somewhat, BBC was also just reporting one side. Sky at least seemed balanced. Many sites using the same headline "Israeli football fans attacked in Amsterdam" when it was the Maccabi fans that according to the evidence I've seen who was the first instigators. Though I'm not going to deny that there wasn't possibly a premeditated element to what happened last night.

I'll repeat my line above, I suspect yesterday may well be a case of both sides being in the wrong.
