226 Harris looking like her final toll. Reps winning both houses. @TROSaracen - I'd like the lottery numbers for three weeks on Saturday please? |

Republicans winning both houses means Trump can get pretty much anything through. In regards to lower vote turn out and the 13 million, anything confirmed about the reason for that? I've read in one place that some of it may have been related to Gaza but I've not seen any data to back that up. |

I also heard it was easier to vote postally last time Think democrats being in hock to big business means they don’t understand working class Americans (see Labour) |

Congrats to TRO Saracen who correctly predicted that Harris would lose all 7 swing states and the senate and house (probably). @larkim - Richard Nixon - not quite the same, but lost to JFK in 1960 and then came back to win in 1968 and 1972 before being booted out for being criminal. |

Rather than going into self-recriminations about what they did wrong in the campaign (probably not a lot, in fact), the Democrats might do better spending their energies on working out why such a large number of people in the States hate and fear them (yes, it's not just that liberals hate and fear the MAGA right, it works both ways). Their economic policies would undoubtedly be hugely more beneficial for many, perhaps most, of these people who hate them. So what it is that they hate and fear? Undoubtedly a huge number of people held their nose and voted for Trump even though they didn't like much about him, rather than risk a Harris presidency. Why? Is there anything useful which could be learned, albeit too late? (I think there is).

@J2R economy was big motivator to vote Trump according to the exit polls so voters don't think they'd be better off economically under the democrats. I am wondering whether it's just turnout TBH (other than the Latino vote). Demographic data is for 2012 is in the voter demographics section: en.m.wikipedia.org |

In the demographic section, it does mention that the Hispanic vote was key for Obama.

Yes, SPR, that's true, specifically inflation - many people might have been happy to go with Trump for this reason (boy, are they going to get a shock!). But that doesn't really explain the hatred. @jdawayinamanger , "9 most feared words"? |
