Twitter has become a total cesspool thanks to libertarian ideals.

The way that case is heading, you're more likely to be getting a protest march demanding her release.

Can I ask what these "demonstrations" are trying to achieve?

You’d have to believe that Lucy Letby’s conviction was safe. And it looks like another of these horrendous miscarriages of justice due to incompetent statistical analysis like that cot death nonsense from a while back. I had naively assumed people had learnt.

It’s worth remembering that the internet is so much more than social media. It has hugely enriched my professional and personal life in so many ways it’s hard to remember what life was like before it.

I don't know much about the case, but are the convictions solely based on statsistical analysis, as they were in the miscariges of justice around 'shaken baby syndrome'?

I've not seen any reporting to that?

This was in Private Eye this week.

private-eye.co.uk

There's been other reporting very much doubting all the evidence and the safety of the prosecutions. Including this in the Guardian.

theguardian.com

There was also a hugely detailed piece in the US right at the time of the trial but it was blocked in the UK.

Though it does look more nuanced than poor statistical evidence.

Poor stats is part of it, I haven't looked in detail but also had a quick look at the Private Eye article. Which aiso makes the point that the failure of part of the case doesn't mean she didn't do it. But there does seem to be a surprising lack of any real evidence, and very speculative assertions as to how she actually killed them.

Interestingly - at least for me - Private Eye mentions the number of deaths when Lucy Letby wasn't on duty. It's one point I noticed only on Twitter during the trial and never saw mentioned anywhere again until now. As Private Eye says, "all the roster proves is Letby was on duty when she was on duty".
