Agree with Fozzy. On Newsnight last night there was a pair of advisors suggesting the individual "outs" themselves, and perhaps in the context of a prolonged absence from TV it is better to do that to grab the initiative, even if it crystalises long term harm to their reputation. That ship may have already sailed.
But the Beeb themselves cannot do the naming, not without the presenter's explicit permission. If there is even a hint of potential for this to turn "criminal" they'd be prejudicing their trial, and if there is no criminal activity going on then it is not for the BBC to publish the private life details of what one of their employees gets up to.

This story might be more about beating up the BBC than anything else. We shall see, but I don’t expect transparency, integrity and honesty from the Scum. They are in the shite now and I have my popcorn.

I really don't think it's out myself if I was the target and honestly knew I'd dune nothing wrong and I'd use every tool in the legal box to stay anonymous.

"a pair of advisors suggesting the individual "outs" themselves"
I've heard several people suggesting this. Sounds like they just want to be gossips and be able to talk about what I understand is widely suspected but unconfirmed.
If it were me, I'd say nothing until I have to - particularly in this case where it will result in trial by newspaper headlines.
The Sun is using as a BBC bashing story as you'd expect.

Mostly I think that's right rich. But equally when you are a presented on BBC and you remain suspended, it becomes easier and easier by a process of elimination to work out who it is, especially as more and more of your colleagues publicly declare "well it isn't me". If the indiviudal wasn't in the public eye like that, keeping quiet would be the right thing to do. But at some point this is getting out there, and controlling the message (as far as possible) is probably the right thing in this particular circumstance.

The Daily Mail to all intents and purposes identified the presenter this morning even if they haven't named them.

So you'd like to be able to gossip about it to Larkim?
Honestly, what does it matter to anyone? This is a job for the BBC HR dept and the Met Police to investigate.
It's no-one else's business at this stage.

No, not at all fozzy. I couldn't give two hoots. But if I were the individual at the centre of this with a decent media profile I would be mapping out the "game" and seeing whether "going public" was likely to be long term a better option rather than being outed by social media. If they and their advisers see it differently and believe silence to remain the best option, then that is the route they should take.
It truly would have been better if the BBC had just taken someone quietly off air, made up some excuse about illness if necessary, engaged properly with the family and individual and come to a valid outcome from the inquiry.
The issue *does* matter as it *may* represent another story of high profile individuals continuing to behave in more modern versions of the ways that Savile and Gadd / Glitter behaved with fans. And the sins of the past where these things were brushed under the carpet should not be repeated.
But yet still, it may be nothing at all more than consensual behaviour between individuals which, whilst strange from my perspective, is entirely valid and harmless.

If what they are accused of is criminal, the first thing the BBC should have done is tell them to take it to the police and stand well back from any direct investigation (though...maybe also take the presenter off air)
