Nope, only deserts where people are dying in the streets in Canada because it's hit 50c (ok 49.6c), and people don't attach consumption/commuting/working to the crisis enfolding us.

I don't like having to bring ID to vote for the reasons mentioned above about it solving a problem that isn't there and also disenfranchising some. However I also question whether it would actually lead to less voter fraud.

I disagree with what was said earlier about the current method of simply stating your name and address isn't really a check. It's important to note that polling station staff are specifically told to make sure that the voter states who they are and their address even if they have a polling card with this information. Thus if someone is impersonating another voter they directly have to tell a lie to the person in front of them which most people would probably find more difficult to do than just placing a piece of paper down on a desk in front of someone.

In addition would polling station staff really be skilled enough to recognise a forgery of the many types of ID that are acceptable? Would they really be able to say that the little picture on the ID is or isn't the person in front of them if the person says 'that's an old photo/my hair is longer than it used to be/I've grown a beard since then'.

I once saw a talk by the Head of Security at a secure location where he stated that when ID cards were introduced for all staff it caused an unexpected potential loosening in security. Previously all the security staff would question everyone who entered who they didn't recognise or were concerned about. Once ID cards were introduced he struggled to make sure all his staff still kept this up rather than just waving everyone through who flashed their ID.

Who mentioned painting, novel writing or musical instruments Cheg?

If we went to 4 day weeks, some people might choose to use their time to do those things, but what I imagine most people would do is use the day they have to ensure all the jobs they need to do around the house get done so that when the weekend comes, they can spend more time with the family and not bogged down in chores like cleaning the bathroom.

If you meant the references to creativity being boosted when people are less stressed, well creativity takes many forms and doesn't have to involve art, literature or music.

I used my creative and artistic licence. It was more to emphasis the pie in the sky nature of let’s all take a day off but we are so energised, happy and motivated that we get 5 days work done in 4 days.

Or that the company is so Uber profitable that they can give me a 25% pay rise and accept the lower output.

You missed the point.

The Iceland study showed that the people who worked 4 day weeks were *more productive* than when working 5 days.

And in Iceland, everyone is in a band. Or designing something, or learning stuff, or engaging with their families.

Apart from during the six month of the year they are depressed.

ITG will be along shortly to confirm that this is 100% accurate.

"Won’t happen in a capitalist society intent on exploiting labour."

Hence why Brexit is bad, because that is what it was all (partly) about.

I really don’t think you can make that sort of unsubstantiated opinion in which you contradict yourself with a straight face.

2/10 for effort

1. It's not unsubstantiated.

2. Only a troll would think that I was trolling.
