Found a good piece in the Guardian this a.m. regarding the recent floods..

Interesting article including how the media have been neutered by "balanced reporting" and lack of holding politicians to account seems to have declined.

Best bit for me was "Tory Governments are more interested in policy-based evidence than in evidence-based policies".

Sums them up nicely..

In the same vein, here's modern conservatism summed up:

"The core of modern conservatism is the idea that some must be protected by the law but not bound by it, and others must be bound by the law but not protected by it."

Paraphrased from: bradford-delong.com

Bout the size of it?

Not sure what to make of this?

bbc.co.uk

Why would you call for a boycott because a Tory uses it?

And how did choice of tea cause such outrage?

It seems childish, but that's the way things seem to be these days.

That's social media for you.

Obviously some people assumed it was some sort of publicity stunt arranged with the company like the Heck sausages thing a while back.

If it was it's backfired. The man is universally loathed - even by the Tories.

Could have been worse I suppose. It could have been Priti Patel...

Theresa Villiers said that the briefings against Patel were because she was a woman.
Ha ha ha!
They were probably because she is hopelessly out of her depth, and was sacked from her last job for being untrustworthy.
Another "holiday" to Israel, Priti?
Is it me, or is this Tory Government even more shambolic than the last one, and they were pretty dire.

I find it hard to believe the comments against Priti Patel aren’t loaded with the same sentiments as those against Diane Abbott

Why is the BBC reporting a few crusty old Corbynites complaining as news? No-one with half a braincell will boycott Yorkshire Tea just because Sunak uses it.

Why not headline the news that austerity is actually killing people?

Compare the FT headline and slant for fucksake

ft.com

with the lily livered BBC version:

bbc.co.uk

Time to get rid of the licence now. Critical reporting? Holding the govt to account? Go to Sky, the FT and C4 first it seems.

Name-calling will be called out, and Ad hominem will be frowned upon. :-) And whatabout-ery sits somewhere above responding to tone and below contradiction.
