I firmly believe that if, immediately after the referendum, the Labour Party had argued, clearly and vehemently, that leaving the EU would be a serious mistake, and had laid out the benefits of EU membership, we wouldn't be where we are today.

If they'd done that DURING the referendum it would have been even better!!

"But the public really isn't that stupid." Stander, the "public" voted for the Tories, and Boris Johnson in particular. A proven liar. Is that stupid, or deluded. You decide. |

Surely a politician says what they believe in, you either go with them or you don’t. The next election gives you a chance to change that. For what it’s worth I believe the average voter is pretty gullible tbf. |

The thing is, we were presented with 1 side which would (in my view) make the country economically poorer through Brexit, and simutaneously not address social or financial inequality (properly). And another side which (in my view) would make the country economically poorer through well meaning but unaffordable policies, but would be attempting to address social and financial inequality. Both sides can be painted as being "stupid". But they were the (realistically electable) choices we were presented with. |

DAve W, to counter your Boris slight, I think the public would have been stupid to vote for a leader who prefers to take the side of terrorists.

Teresa May’s Tory party was quite cosy there with the DUP. That DUP that are linked with Loyalist factions that murdered dozens of innocent Catholics in their time. |

It's a pointless debate about whether Corbyn or Johnson is more worthy of a vote. They each have their significant flaws - each of us will weigh those up differently. Plenty of people would defend Corbyn's association with *some* (not all!) terrorists, in the same way that Major and Blair associated with the IRA to bring about peace. But not everyone will see that the same way. One man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist etc etc. Corbyn is dead and buried as a leader - time for us to move on. |
