A lot of people like Keir Starmer and see him as a credible candidate WS. You may not like him and thats fine, but a lot of people do.

Given that outside those engaged in politics (i.e. most people on this thread) the vast majority of people don't know anything about *any* of the candidates for Labour leader. So, WS is right, that not many people like them, but not for the reason he thinks - because they are unknown to the general public. |

It will take 3 or 4 years for them to get that recognition. Murdoch is about to ramp up his hate campaign for Keir , because of Leveson, so his recognition might be on the up. |

Stander Thanks for the good wishes. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you. When you return I would be interested if you could point out which of the opinions expressed here are ‘wrong’. I would be even more delighted if you could tell us any of the things about Brexit that are right. |

That's not quote right fozzy, some people know who he is, some labour voters too, he's the guy who kept popping up on telly and saying something ever so slightly different to Corbyn as regards anything, but especially Europe and probably is a double edged sword. He showed the divisions, but at least some may recognize him, possibly importantly, as 'not Corbyn-like'. If I were him, I'd miss this one out and have a go after the next electoral humiliation. |

It's odd that I have enjoyed reading the thread more since the election, despite my sadness at the result. Some very thoughtful posts that challenge my thinking and give much food for thought. Thanks. (you know who you are...) Merry Christmas too all of you. |

Yep, merry Xmas ![]() Not sure about any of the labour runners but they have time to put across their case and get themselves known. The new direction needs to be pro ordinary people, pro business and have some patriotism to win back the ones that negative Corbynism has driven away. |
