Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Great that people are finding ways of dealing with PF.

Once again I am counting myself in the lucky/ got off lightly camp. Because I knew what it was when it was the merest suggestion of a niggle, I stopped running for 10 days, got a 30 min sports massage on the calf muscle, stretched, ice, rolled and generally gave it no traction.

Since then I've done a run walk and two 5ks with no further pain. So fingers crossed I caught it and can consider myself cured again.

After 18 months of PF in my left foot I had the whole of last year symptom free. A core and glute strengthening program from the physio appeared to fix it long term, in addition to getting rid of various other long term niggles. I also got relief from the same night splint in the link above. My PF has returned in both feet during pregnancy, which I think is down to not being able to keep up the same level of deep core work. At 9 months pregnant I also can no longer reach down to get the night splint on and off!! Looking forward to being able to get back onto the core work again in a couple of months to banish the PF once more!

Good luck Krissie, with babby and PF both. Great to hear that core work gave you long term solution. Will keep my pilates going! And the splint that colette posted. Cheers. :-)G

Mine is slowly but surely improving now due to having a brilliant Physio. Working on my core and also glutes as it stemmed from a twisted pelvis from a fall the other year. Keep at it guys :)

Interesting Dawn - I had a dodgy pelvis the year before my PF. I wonder if it was related. Good luck with getting it sorted. Again, there is hope. I still feel mine, but I had my best year last year of running PBs and I'm ultra training now, so there is life after PF! :-)G
