Ooooh, another Delamere-er! That day did go down in local history for the parkrun! I missed it, which was a shame! I'm guessing from the results list / name guess you still nearly cracked 20 minutes that day?

BK brighter days ahead
I ran our local course yesterday - walked the sheet ice in places and stayed on the grass next to some of the paths. It was ok but had to be sensible and took care. Dogs still have no awareness and dart in front of you irrespective of the conditions. Fine as an individual to rum/walk it but there is no way that I would have done the same with a group of runners around me and nor would I expect the event to go ahead just because I was capable of getting around unscathed. Once you factor in other participants, the volunteers ( our 90 year old regular and a few others would struggle to walk on the paths ) and the logistics of a greater number of cars coming in and out of a road/car park that hasn’t been gritted you have to put I to one side and think about what is best for the event as a whole.

Bit gutted that Hazlehead is off. I was meant to be park walking and would have been my 10th different volunteer role. But safety definitely comes first.
If Aberdeen is off, then I won’t be travelling to the likes of Montrose if they are on. Roads probably ok but not very environmentally friendly and not exactly an essential journey. And I like my sleep!
Fingers crossed things defrost by next week.

Just back from seven miles on clear paths apart from the odd bit. The worst was my own driveway
Anyway while I was our Edinburgh was cancelled as it’s not safe which given the way the streets fund me are I’d surprising.
I guess that means Sundays half is in doubt as that’s on the parkrun route. That’s good as I don’t feel up for it.

My street and pavement are both still horrendous but the roads are okay so may just run here.

This was Delamere's sensible FB post today:- For tomorrow, we are on, but.......
1) It's probably not PB conditions - so take it easy. 2) There's "white stuff" around but it's cohesive and mostly can be avoided. 3) If you are feeling at all anxious about the conditions then maybe stay in bed this week. 4) It's going to be very cold, especially for our brilliant volunteers.

I ran the Maxima Park parkrun course in Utrecht today and it was very icy because it rained overnight. The rain fell on frozen ground.
The organisers just announced on Facebook that they had to cancel it for that reason. I'm a bit disappointed because I travelled here. I'm going to run it as a free parkrun despite the conditions. I'm fine with ice but I wouldn't let the event go ahead under these conditions either.

My 'local' parkruns have both been called off in the last thirty minutes. Waiting game on what will be available tomorrow.
