The situation with parkruns in Wales will be discussed on the Jeremy Vine show after 12 on radio 2.

BTW regarding some of the earlier comments. There is no Welsh Assembly. Its the Senedd or Welsh Parliament. Health is devolved and not under English Health or the wording 'UK Health' which just confuses people. Apologies for the mislabelling - my error I might also add that 'appropriate adjustments to the operating model' doesn't have to be limited to finding different ways to do the one thing parkrun has always done. I agree that managing/limiting numbers week in/week out would be a task beyond even the most committed volunteer team. I would contend that, if HQ so wished, parkrun's impact could also be broadened out to finding and resourcing (by which I suspect I mostly mean providing insurance cover) ways for local teams to reach out into their communities and support other activities where they feel capable of doing so. Obvious examples, under the banner of promoting community health, could include supported/guided small group runs or litter picks at the venues used by the parkrun teams. I understand this is highly unlikely to happen - but that is a decision from parkrun HQ itself - it's their brand and if they don't want it used for community health initiatives other than a weekly 5k run that's up to them. |

I didn't know it was called the Welsh parliament either. I think the confusion comes from its members being Assembly members instead of, for example, MWPs.

Not any more hellywobs (yes, I've just been looking it up). Changed in 2020. I didn't know either. No longer AMs, but MS/AS (Cymraeg)

Hi Hellywobs. The Welsh Parliament members aren't called Assembly members. But referred to as an 'MS', short for Member of Senedd.

Cumbri to be fair the reason parkrun has been so successful is precisely it’s focus on ‘the one thing parkrun has always done’. Everyone thinks they can improve the model but that’s just theory: those who have tried to actually do it have generally failed. As for local teams taking local initiatives during the pandemic - that’s already happening.

Anyway I know emotions run high with regards to this topic. We all love parkrun. I fully understand peoples reactions. I hope we all stay safe and healthy & things improve hugely in 2022.
