I never take my phone to Parkrun anyway and never would as its something extra to carry. Having a barcode/wristband with ICE on it seems best option to me.
Granted I know some people do run with phones.

I do usually have both with me just as a function of habitually taking my phone out with me whenever I use the car or am out of the house for an hour+ but I will still endeavour to use my wristband. A good plan B if necessary though.

I always have my phone with me at Cleethorpes, simply because I often finish, take a look at the queues for scanning, open up the app and help out.
Doesn't everyone go to parkrun with the app ready just in case they want to spontaneously volunteer?

I've often felt that parkrun have missed a trick there by not incorporating the barcode directly in the app, then you can be certain that a lot of people there would have the app ready if required.
Of course, you'd be more than welcome to bring a printed barcode instead if you don't have the means to run the app.

Sounds like a way to appease all the moaners.
I'll still take my card, I never run with my phone anyway

I never finish fast enough to be any use on scanning after running but have also been turned down from one parkrun where I did turn up on the day and offered to scan so while I would still offer elsewhere if the situation arose I probably wouldn't offer at that one again.

DG, Ive been asking for volunteer roles that dont require me to have my phone. main reason is I run there and back and dont take the phone. Second reason is that I worry about the weather and a phone getting ruined. Ive already had one phone that got slightly wet and then promptly died forever. I am not prepared to risk an expensive piece of kit.
Sadly that means I cannot be timekeeper as I do enjoy that role.

Phone in a plastic bag that is big enough to also take your hand helps for timekeeping in the rain!

As I've posted before (should be on commission!), a flipbelt will transform your attitude to running with a phone (unless you really deliberately want to be out of contact for a period of time, which is of course a perfectly good reason not to have one with you). Maybe I'm just lucky that the size vs my waist works perfectly, but once the phone's in there and slid around to the small of my back I'd really not know it was there at all.
