looks like news on phone barcodes.......
Other than the mention on FWT on Friday that they would have someone from HQ on this week and the briefest mention of the word "barcodes", has there been any other sources yet? Not seen anything leaked myself so far.

I'd take that as a leak from 'sources' even if it's more of a teaser

I can't say I've read anything.
(That doesn't mean I haven't read anything, just that I can't say whether or not I have.)
I believe there's a regional daily freesheet that gets the exclusives on this sort of information, isn't there?

Was thinking leaving an announcement until a podcast release on Friday was cutting it a bit fine, and just likely to cause more ructions.

Bet the barcode band company is upset about a reduction in demand for their products!

As an aside, been using my phone barcode with my local running league race where they are using the Virtual Volunteer app to scan in the same way that parkrun do, and that's all been working fine. Though they also made the point this last week that they prefer runners to carry their barcodes in printed format with them for safety reasons! (Ignoring the fact that for years runners in that league have had no numbers or anything to identify themselves as they don't even use bib numbers).

"We will continue to ask that parkrunners bring a scannable barcode with them in order to record a time, and ideally carry it on their person whilst participating so that their ICE details are easily accessible if needed.
From Saturday 27 November, however, in instances where an individual presents a digital version this should be accepted."
- extract from the email.
I'd maybe use a phone barcode as an emergency backup but will continue to take my old paper one.

Digital version - doesn't that mean a barcode tattooed on a finger?
