We had a dry morning Fizz, it didn't rain here till lunch time. There was a 21 mile race going on here today and a few races tomorrow. I'm not sure of the number Stonehaven usually get but Mrs S can tell us.

Wow Chrisity that is great :-)

Stonehaven got 48 participants today which is a bit below our average this year. We've been getting more like 60s, 70s recently.

Less than 200 at Conwy, way down for this time of year. Course was completely flooded. Despite the warnings at the start to keep left at all times, almost poleaxed a young lad jumping around the puddles, not looking and jumped almost straight into my path.

Only around 120 at Inverness this morning - combination of a bad forecast (although it wa actually dry and warm), alternative course, and loads of road closures because Noel Gallagher is playing tonight, I suspect. The council seem to have dug a couple of drainage channels on the river side of the pond, which made a big difference to that bit of the route. Still muddy and puddly, but no waders required.

Walking around Shipley Country Park in 2016, I suggested to the family it was a great place for a parkrun and coincidentally I found myself running a parkrun there months later, some time after their inaugural.

I had the same thoughts today at Ryton Pools country park near Coventry. Some nice wide tracks in a really nice 100 acre park. Might draw a few away from Coventry..

I agree Ryton would be nice and the parkrun rumour mill periodically brings it up 🙂

Our club put a race on (Ryton 5 mile) there every summer - I do wonder if parking would potentially be an issue. It certainly is for the race I don’t know the area well but I don’t think public transport or getting there on foot is very easy?

Statistics seem to show that if you start a run close to an existing one it might have a small impact at the beginning but generally the numbers at existing runs stay the same and the new one grows it’s own community. All for more runs though!

That’s another one that periodically makes the rumour mill and never comes to anything.

Early days yet but work is progressing on a parkrun in Wollaton Park, Nottingham, where the XC Nationals have been held recently.
