Does the Manchester Marathon still go through Timperley, home of Frank Sidebottom? I remember the crowds there all wearing cardboard Frank masks. Very surreal.

David Soul got a mention above - not sure if it was before or after his deTath was announced!
I actually quite liked both "Don't give up on us" and "Silver Lady" but cannot remember anything else he sung. And I never really watched Starsky and Hutch.
But I'm amazed he was only in his early 80s!

"Don't Give Up On Us Baby" gives me the shudders in the context of David Soul's history of domestic violence.

I know almost nothing of David Soul beyond "Don't give up..." and the chunky cardi cop thing. Wasn't aware of him being problematic but then I wasn't aware of him being much at all for about 40 years so there's that.

I used to watch Starsky & Hutch, a few of the blokes in our gang wore those cardigans.

I was a Hutch's Girl when you had to pick one or the other. Poster on my wall and everything. Was gutted when he turned out to be a bad'un.

This might get be the one thread where there is a crossover between David Soul, Frank Sidebottom, and The Fall I have a friend who worked with Frank Sidebottom, another who got David Soul to accompany her to a record company party and a friend who has been treated in hospital by Dr. Marcia Schofield, former keyboard player in The Fall.
