In the interest of equality, my folks both pegging it has similar but not quiet as much effect (less money involved!)

I think our three remaining ancestors will live forever, out of sheer thrawnness.

My poor had not much to leave us but I would still rather she was here. My dad holds our inheritance and seems to be still strong.

My grandparents (probably parents had a bit to do with it) had the forethought to pass on something to my generation directly when we were young and poor enough for it to really make a difference, rather than leaving it all to our parents who were relatively established and comfortable. I've always wondered why more people don't do this.

Both my parents died almost 20 years ago, so no inheritance here. I retired on my own money and savings.

I've encouraged my parents to bequeath directly to my children if they don't want to leave anything to my sibling (estranged from them) and me (divorced from my children's father and remarried). This would still give them a dilemma because one of my children is also estranged from them. I think, though, they just regard "yur inherrrrritance" as a control tactic, otherwise they'd make permitted gifts to the children while they're still alive.

My granny didn't bequeath straight to me and my brothers, but my mum did help us all out in our late 20s/early 30s using the funds my granny had left her.

I worked out the month of my retirement (May of the year in which youngest was predicted to graduate) years and years in advance; then when the time came I did it. I was fortunate in my pensions, though.
Totally recommend retiring while your body is as fit as possible.

I don’t think any of my grandparents had much to leave to anyone.
