I’ve got match commitments for the next ten days - it’s club championship season. I may end up retiring shortly thereafter- or all may be well. I’ll have a better idea after Thursday night coaching.

Do you have a coach Greppers? I’d have thought this was a matter of good form.

I have, yes - two in fact. We’ve fixed the underlying problem, so if I get through this next batch of matches I might be alright - but I’m massively worried that things will just blow up on Thursday night.

FWIW the primary problem is hyperextending my arm on my (topspin) backhand drive - but it’s exacerbated by backhand volleys (lots of shock to the elbow on that unless I’m 100% set) and my second service, which is a sliding loopy affair that gets some of the power from elbow extension.

Hyperextending is always going to be a problem.

News just in: I now have an automatic car. I have been suffering from the stiffness of the BMW clutch for a number of years. Also, I have a left knee niggle for no discernible reason. So now I'm coasting around in a leisurely fashion. Am I wrong to love this?

My dear sweet Quimbers. Welcome to a club I joined last year, the Bugger Me Why Didn't I Get An Automatic Years Ago Life Is So Much Easier club :)

Gleaners - quite. Apparently my decade or so of fanatical squash playing is biting me in the arse. My knees are fine mind. Absolutely fine. Which makes it all the more galling.

I did have an old Vauxhall auto many years ago. In my 20s. I remember I used to eat toast on the way to work. :-O

Had to give the OH a lesson in Tesco car park on Sunday morning because he had never driven one. It's easy, really, isn't it?
