Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

He doesn’t seem to be. What a race! 4th place was less than a 10th of a second behind the winner.

He's impressed me more in defeat* than when he was winning by seconds.

*I'm not saying silver is a defeat, it's still impressive

He's not quite at his peak anymore, so to take a medal of any colour is a great achievement. We were all willing him to get that first touch but it wasn't to be. The overhead shot of 7/8 swimmers virtually touching together was a testimony as to how close it was.

Team GB has performed so well at the past three Olympics. As with Adam Peaty, we shouldn't assume a medal as a certainty in that we might not be finishing quite as high up the medal table a fortnight today.

currently watching the diving. it's a bit like me watching the gymnastics - everyone seems fantastic but then the commentator says "oh, that was really disappointing..." :-)

Just got back from dropping the car for its MOT so missed the diving. A bit like gymnastics in what they do is fantastic but I don't like sports that are solely dependant of judges' scores. So, I won't be watching dressage, skateboarding, synchronised swimming, etc. either.

Maybe it would remove the subjectiveness if they had to jump through specific hoops and shapes on their way down :-)

Trampolining - or at least part of it - is judged electronically measuring how far from the centre the trampolinist lands.

Not quite hoops and shapes - perhaps they could put up burning hoops along the lines of a daredevil motorcyclist!!

About This Thread

Maintained by Curly45
Couldn't find a thread so thought I would start one.

Who else is off to watch or who is watching at home?

We're doing Lille and Paris and a mix of sports. Currently trying to find travel insurance that includes ticket cancellation as some of the trains in the UK might be difficult and we have some internal French trains to do as well.

Also need to work out the new Paris metro ticket/app combo (Navigo I think).
