Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Is that the bridge from Queens into Manhattan?

I'm just hoping there isn't a freak heatwave and it ends up like London this year!

That's the one Girlie, it is also very well supported from mile 3 to about mile 8 and then you enter the slightly obscure orthodox Jew area of Brooklyn who carry on regardless, quite clearly disapproving of physical activity on a Sunday.

I've never been to NY, so it's going to be such an adventure for the whole Girlie Clan (WW and LMG will be coming as well)
I'm hoping being down the back of the pack, i won't end up on me own!( not likely with 40K competitors!)

You won't be alone, the good thing about the NY course is that the streets are so wide that it isn't that crowded. The 2 level start over the Verrazano Narrows bridge also eases congestion.
I met Hanneke and a few others from RW in NY, we arranged a meeting on the Mon morning on top of the Empire State Building, could be a plan for you Fetchies.

If you are planning to go out to the island where the Statue of Liberty is it might be wise to pre-book tickets and a time slot. It was very busy last time I was there.

If you can, you must do the Friendship Run on the Sat morning before. Loads wear a fancy dress outfit for it. It is BRILL! I'm still deaf from being next to a bunch of singing Italians :-)

Cheers Paul, that would be a good place to take LMG to see- she will be nearly 6. I don't want to spend all my time in Toys R Us!

Think WW and LMG will be exploring Central Park while Marathon is on.

Paul - looks like you've done quite few marathons - how do you rate New York against the rest? Was it very congested or did you have a good start?
How did it compare to Boston?

Are any Fetchies staying at the Belverdere, and are there any plans to have a pre-race meet up?, as I will be going on my own, it would be nice to meet up with others who post on here.
