I'm doing this too, charity place with get kids going. This will be my first marathon, and am slightly (make that very!) nervous about it.

Girlie, you are ahead of me as far as LSR go, I'm only at 12 miles at the moment, and my plan doesnt take me to 15 miles for another 3 weeks.

I'm supposed to be on 11 miles this week, which we tried last night but my mate wussed out after 6. So we're having another go on Saturday!

Seriously, though, I'm starting to build the miles a bit, and I'm crosstraining, too, and doing a lot of races, so I'm not too worried. I just can't wait!

Girlie
I chose to start mine early, as it is my first marathon and I feel I need the extra time at each distance both to build my endurance and for my own confidence.

Mag65 - I'm with Get Kids Going too. It will be my 5th marathon but I believe that being nervous is good, get the LSRs in and you'll be fine. I think this must be one of the world's best supported races so that will get us through.

Hi all, started running again this week after a lay off, hoping 100 days is sufficient to get me in tip top condition. Can't wait for this marathon!

Good luck everyone, the noise as you drop down and around the corner onto 1st Avenue is amazing. I think louder than the Wellesley 'scream tunnel' at Boston. Be prepared for any weather though, in 05 it was cold at Fort Wadsworth but then rapidly got above 20C during the race. The last few miles through Central Park are also great, brilliant finish line set-up. If anyone is taking a non-running partner the VIP breakfast, free champagne, reserved bleacher seating at the finish line is recommended.
