It's possible the problem is specifically with courses with turn alerts embedded (and it doesn't happen every time).

ah, might be. Once I worked out how to use them I decided I didn't they were more annoying than helpful and never bothered again

Is anyone else having problems with Garmin connect? (stupid question, really...) I did 4 walking activities today, all of them showing up in the history on my Fenix 3. Only 3 of them have made it through to Garmin connect (and hence to Fetch, which is the bit I really care about). And all those three have turned up as Running rather than as Cross Training. |

As you were. It's just synced again, and this time the missing appeared. (as a run, of course, on Fetch, but at least it's there).

Walks and occasional workouts (yoga/core, stuff I don't usually bother logging in the first place, as it goes) turn up correctly in Connect for me but always show up as runs in Fetch. I think it's the import logic here defaulting to Run - I'm not sure offhand if anything shows up as Other automatically; maybe swimming would, but I've never recorded a swim on a Garmin.

Thanks - then presumably the logic goes is it a bike? is it a swim? must be a run. Maybe we could persuade Ian to change it to is it a bike? is it a siwim? is it a run? must be an Unidentified Other.

if you create events that aren't run/bike/swim based in Garmin Connect they come though to Fetch as cross training. I log my yoga, kettlebells, etc that way.

That's intriguing. Just manually created an activity which looked the same in Garmin Connect as a gymtimer activity would, and that came through as cross training; a short gymtimer session (involving sitting at my desk and pushing buttons on the watch) came through to FE as a run again. There's no sport at all in the FIT file you can download from Connect for the first one, but there isn't one if you do the same thing and make a manual run either, and that shows up in FE as a run.

now a proposal on the consultation page: "When importing automatically, don't tag the activity as a 'run' if it's not a bike or a swim - tag it as a 'cross training' if it's not a run, swim or bike. That will stop all those hikes and walks being uploaded as runs." Add your vote here: http://www.fetcheveryone.com/consultation.php |
