I was wondering about leaves and the ā€œcompostā€ created by leaving them to rot down
There are loads of leaves about (just not in my garden!)

Is it worth going and collecting some bags full and letting them rot down for use next year?

They do tend to make good compost, especially for veg but they take a bit of work to compost properly. Just turning over and aerating every 3 or 4 weeks.

Yes, though it can take a couple of years for leaves to rot down fully.

You can put it in a bag, I don't because I'm a plastic avoider where possible. Need to keep it moist, poke holes and ideally add some nitrogen into the mix too (grass clippings, manure, compost maker etc.)
