Rosehip
My french beans are also trying to climb the broad beans.

We had both for dinner this evening, so I untangled as I picked.
Runners are flowering well, but no beans yet
First courgettes picked :)
Windfall plums stewed for tomorrow’s breakfast - (it’s a very early variety)

Tomatoes seem a long way behind, though, and not setting very well.

not sure I’ll get many this year

I'm not getting many tomatoes off the flowers either, RH. I think the wind and rain is causing havoc this year. They are very early plums!

They’re Rivers Early prolific - and very prolific, I have to tell my neighbours to help themselves as there are two many just for me and the menfolk don’t eat them unless in a crumble or jam

I had the first french beans from the poly tunnel yesterday. The broad beans in there only made 2 or 3 bean pods; lots of flowers, though.

No tomatoes yet.

Everything else, apart from 2 broad bean plants planted in October, is really late because I was late in sowing.
Correction: I wasn't but the builders unplugged the heater and propagators during the day and more often than not didn't plug them back in at night because it wasn't freezing 🙄🙄🙄 Thank f#ck it wasn't or I would have lost my tender citrus collection and other tender plants in there!
NEVER question why the greenhouse is heated 24/7 for 6 months of the year!

I told them off after all my seedlings died, but decided not to re-sow until after they finished, which should have been before xmas, then beginning January etc... It was April when I had my greenhouse back!!!
I now also have a double powerpoint in there, in my drying/potting shed and on the outside of the building!!!

Our “allotment” at in The Red Lion garden. We have four 6’x4’ beds.
Three for veg and one for flowers for cutting.
Our first harvest today saw us bring home potatoes, carrots, onions, courgettes and garlic. It’s all a bit of an experiment for us and the pub, but seems to be working well at the moment.

That looks great ER. I'm planning to create some raised beds for veg in my garden at some stage - what do you think of the dimensions you are working with - 6"x4" - if you could change those dimensions at all would you?

That size suits our purposes (and as they were already there we had no choice). I would probably go larger for the potato beds as they are a little difficult to dig from outside of the bed, but for everything else it’s fine. Much wider and it could be a little difficult to reach to the middle.

Am going to have a total redesign of my garden in the autumn.

My veg plot is too big for me with my poorly hands now so going to put it back to a flower bed and make a much smaller contained veg garden area.

Also with us going away a lot it's not fair asking neighbours to look after
