I've just been to check what survived last night torrential downpours only to find my brussels have bolted. FFS!

D2 this year is seriously sent to try one! My lettuces are bolting and 3 successional sowings haven't worked, so I will soon be without salad leaves :(
Going to sow more today... No idea why it isn't working! The first batch, from which I have been eating for weeks if not months, germinated fine in April...

Brussels are fine but I've had to save one of my blueberry bushes, which was being strangled by a stray and particularly long and strong runner bean tendril. The first runner beans are about ready for picking :)

I had to disentangle my french beans from the broad beans yesterday. Why on earth the decided to grow North onto the BBs and not South onto their climbing frame???

I have a couple of runner beans that are stubbornly reaching sideways into the void instead of climbing up their convenient supports.

I'm fighting a running battle with the bindweed which was accidentally imported with the autumn fruiting raspberries. It's far more vigorous than the climbing beans are!

Come early winter I'll uproot and pick over the bush roots before replanting them in newly seived soil. After I've dug about 2 foot down through it, of course!
