@TippTop Thanks for letting us all know about your condition. Hope those latest tests give you something. Few of you might of seen off Still a bit snotty and felt rougher when I got back. Too late to get out of the Mansfield national xc relays - probably not a great idea as I was coughing a bit and it was a really slow time. So just school run jogs this week - chest better now, so will be doing Chiltern league very steady tomorrow. |

TT- Get SG on your coaching books, he's desperate to do a marathon. I have a feeling your approach to this will give you a much better chance than most to finding a solution. SC - Glad you're feeling a bit better. MIL sounds a bit too close to the American Pie reference. 7 out of 10 races done on Zwift and my knee/lower leg is hurting so I am debating whether to pull the plug on that with today's race not done yet and two pretty long and savage stages over the weekend. |

@fii I must admit every time I read SC's profile name I mistake it for some variant of LGBT, wondering what the C stands for. And there's more chance of you becoming a Labour MP than me wanting to do a marathon |

Felt a long week this week, probably because i'm currently doing 3 days a week in the office! Imagine! We used to do this 5 days a week, 45 weeks of the year! Revelling in that post HM glow though, but it was only today I actually did a run of any sort of speed. An interesting looking 4x 7mins, made up with 3mins, 2mins, 1min efforts with 30sec floats in between and 3 min stop recovery after sets. Vague idea of speeding up each section of the rep. And reps 2 & 4 changed the order from 1 min up to 3 for giggles. Although I got that wrong and didn't realise the 1min is still meant to be the fastest, not the harder version of trying to then do 2min and 3min quicker as you go! Normal front end company weren't around, so a solo job, occasionally overtaking some people. As we changed direction every 7mins and all started at the same point, it was limited to 5 or 6 people rather than working through more of the field. No idea on timings, off feel, which is fine sometimes. Just starting to get cold now, but looking forward to a lovely lie in and SAT OFF |

13 today to see out a lower mileage of 51 post HM. Bit of meddling offroad 3/4 or so in but 7.40 average fairly fine. |

Yet again good consistency, SG. Took a bit of brain power to get my head around your Friday sesh. Zwift races looked savage, Reg. How is the knee? Your blog was a good (but difficult/sad) read, TT. I’d be interested in the coaching if tots a genuine option. Certainly don’t want to overburden you mid health challenges. Back into the swing of things a little more this week. The aforementioned ‘hill block’ got off to a punchy start on Thursday with 6 x 15s hill sprints. Great little session. Total elevation 29m 😂 The NB Supercomp Elite are my go to long run shoe and went well on Friday. 14M at 7:37. Filthy though for any kind of MP or faster effort. Refereeing (basically strides) yesterday then 3M on the lovely, lovely grass. Hills proper today with a return to the Three Hills of Cleeve. Fastest time in a couple of years over 9.5M and 1500ft ascent. 62M for the week which feels top end of about right for the moment. |

Whilst the idea of me being a Labour MP is an amusing comparison, you've actually already run a 50km race (cigar out caveat notwithstanding) whereas I have never been tempted by the idea of releasing paedophiles to make room for someone writing a mildly offensive facebook post. SQ being trained by TT would be a great little thread narrative to follow! The knee is progressing quite well. Weirdly it's much more of a cycling specific injury. I managed a run yesterday, only 10k but it felt fine. In fact even swimming is worse than running as the pushing off the wall annoys it a bit. It's a good reminder to stick to a proper training balance and not get involved in crazy side quests! What I assume is my Tibialis anterior, is very sare if I put the massage gun or foam roller on it. I can feel it all the way down to the insertion in the foot. I am also tight in the quad and sore in the patela tendon so I think a diet of quad stretching is in order first and I'll see if that sovles it before trying smoething else. |

stevieg wrote: My lot's half marathon totally died a death. Probably a bit in truth down to being a July HM with a massive hill mile 1 and issues closing roads and arsey residents on certain bits. The biggest nail in the coffin was the police fees to close the road. Once they moved away from a road course to an "off road" they ended up in no-man's territory with a slow race which wasn't sexy tough, just nasty tough. |
