I'm on 24 parkruns... i'll be spending £20 on a "SG 25" T shirt as soon as I hit such a huge total. Not. |

I never got a 25 t-shirt. First was 50 in those days. I got a 25 volunteer one a few years later.

I forgot my obligatory parkrun moan. Wycombe Rye parkrun is a lollipop, so out on a path to about 2k, a 1k lap and then back down the same path for the last 2k. That means that there is an overlap so, depending on speed, you see other runners going in the opposite direction on the path. I'm used to seeing the tail walkers when I have about a mile to go but on Saturday I had passed the 4k before I passed them, so I had done 4k in about 20 minutes and they had done 1k. The results show the 510th finisher in 55 minutes and the 511th in 1 hour 30 minutes. I'm all in favour of inclusivity but there has to be some balance so volunteers can plan on leaving by 10 at the latest. |

I read something from Nick Bester saying that his Sat morning races will have to stop once parkrun commences. Bushy remains a fantastic experience. Recommend highly and I’m sure that you’d love it SG. 3 page blog on parking alone!! |

Do not drive to Bushy would be my advice. It's well served by buses and trains. And it's inside ULEZ these days. Avoid the phesantry for a coffee unless you want to take out a mortgage 😂

I'm very unlikely to do the Bushy Park 1,000th, my interest is more that the BP gang might use it as cover to get their 1st event in. But then Sep 7th is a BP HM, so it'd start for a week then have to stop again. It is an intriguing idea a BP parkrun. I like the idea of it always being available for a turnout, but not always sure a parkrun and a 9am start is peak racing time / motivation. You'd get decent competition on any given week though I'm certain. @philip_m_jones that's the parkrun experience I'm afraid. The second they started gently tweaking the language and bringing in tail "walkers" you have to deal with whoever comes in. At least Wycombe is a fairly big field. If it was at one of the minor events with say 40 people it could rankle a bit more waiting an extra 30mins, but I dare say Wycombe parkrun has a decent "community" and has a lot of hangers oners and abouters |

I’m definitely a parkrun lover but I empathise with @philip_m_jones about the very late final finisher. I sometimes volunteer marshal with my kids and that extra twenty minutes is just a bit too much. As it’s a two lap course at Cheltenham we just returned our hi-viz at 0955 and headed off. The volunteering was otherwise great fun. 3h long in Wednesday. 19C was such a nice temperature for once. Never really got going so happy with average 7:53 for 23M. No need for any MP in there with a big session last Monday and Winchcombe 10k (hilly trail, low key, formerly graced with @stevieg’s presence) this Sunday. 10M with strides this morning. Got back in the rugby pitch 4G. Incredible surface to run on. |

I did look at that Winchcombe 10k, but had assumed it was Monday for some reason which is too close to my next turnout. Sunday might have made it ok, but it's sold out anyway. To be honest, whacking a brutal hill in there doesn't justify the trip, as it's not got that brutal hill in a 1mile niche as per the Murder mile. Sort of sesh Friday mornings are made for today as I stepped back into my 5k plan. 10x200m off 90secs I'd misremembered it as 12 reps, so was surprised to see it being only 10. I took the full 90secs for once and definitely needed them, although from the splits you might wonder why 4 x 34xx 6x 35xx, albeit most of those were 350x so very narrow odds really and probably more like what PMJ was saying about margin for error, how quick i took the split / exact cm of foot versus line etc! I found a note of doing this sesh 8 years ago where I was averaging 2 secs a rep quicker, but you can't really compare 8 years on, conditions, form etc. The drive and wu were pretty heavy rain, which luckily disappeared, but the wind was a bit stronger than I'd like for this zone. Still, 4.45 or so pace, which is well ahead of mile pace, so it'll do for a nice short in and out. The big sesh was that 3x1mile at achieved 5k pace on Tue. |

I hate to think how hilly the Murder Mile must feel, @stevieg, this was bad enough! Quite a big rest for 200s but I guess it gives you real chance for a burn up. Good luck to @LBAC Si for the next round/final? Winchcombe 10k today, a perennial favourite on the Hand family calendar: fetcheveryone.com/blog-share.php?id=487831 |
