The Bus
Lol - maybe not 3, but one quick one! WW - age mixed with stupidity mainly! To cut a long and tedious story short, I had long term hamstring issues, which moved from the right leg to the left, which were eventually sorted after discovering Elephant Walk stretches (and other injuries reducing mileage!). Last year, I went to the Alps, and didn't listen to my ankle complaining when I got back after all the long descents, which led to a ligament issue and a tear, which has taken an age to heal. I even went to a physio for this one, who gave me the usual strenghtening and slow return programme, which I did. On starting to build up the mileage again this spring, culminating in some big climbs and descents in the Lakes in May, I have hurt soemthing in the Illiopsoas area (again, by not backing off from a niggle!) Not sure what, but seems to be easing, and my physio has no appointments, so trying to self manage and see how it goes. Thankfully, Zwifting, lots of walking, paddle boarding and now a bit of gravel biking have kept my weight and general fitness OK. |

Great to see you again @The Bus do see the odd thing in Wendover Woods on Strava! 15 x 200 off 60 last night. Battling the dog walkers who are obsessed with the track. Weirdos. |

Great to see @The Bus in town! I’ve enjoyed the mixture of runs, walks, SUPs and more recently gravel biking on your strava. @LBAC Si as in the dog walkers are on an actual running track? Had a good workout today; one of those where you feel pretty chipper even during the warm up. Fancy shoes and a slight tailwind out the door helped, but got to enjoy them when they come! 2M ish warm up into 10 mins (6:25), 8 (6:16), 6 (6:07, 4 (6:05), 2 (5:57) all off two mins recovery (7:38 average). 10M at 6:54 average. |

Assume SUPs are where you just cruise around town and go "sup" to your homies?

Nice little increasing pace blasts there SQ and always good to see some 200s knocking about Simon. Going to meet a few of the club for a 30min warm up pre the sesh tonight and see how it pans out for this 5 laps of the park fartlek sesh. I can't remember how far the fast bits of the park loop are or the cool down bits. But I'll make sure I didn't do what I did 15 or so years ago and try and blast the whole lap every lap, as by lap 3 I was in the bushes monstered. |

Wow Bus, what an incredible amount of shite to have to wade through. Congrats for sticking with it. Maybe one day we’ll all learn not to train on through issues. Maybe. Keeping the weight off is such a massive driver, isn’t it? Mind you, you’ll have to contribute a few bags of gravel to the Wendover Woods guys to make good all the wear you’ve made on those trails!! Sticking with the bits and pieces here. My own problem foot continues to improve but I’m still very wary given that the way forward is all very unknown. Couple of 5ks over the next few weeks and then a switch in focus as I get ready to go cycling in Mallorca with friends in Sep. Make or break on the cycling tbh as I find the road training round here incredibly boring! |

The dream of sharing another little race jaunt with you Bus is still alive. As long as you want to comeback, you will do given time and patience. Some of these low key offroaders are a nice diversion to take away any pace aims etc. Although I say that, I noticed I'd recorded decently on some seg on that Misbourne 10k course in the recent race and was right next to you on there from a training run!! |

And @Windsor Wool you look to be doing marvellarsely in the 5ks you've done. Quick romping up through the gears again. Inevitably a bit harder for the longer races but a really nice benchmark versus 6months ago feels. I know you love the Hm and marathons and maybe they're not on the table right now, but a few enjoyable sessions and a few shorter turnouts seems a good saver for now. |

@Sorequads Sorequads Sorequads I'll try and get a picture - basically it's an old RAF cinder track, now in the middle of the park, 4 lanes of concrete with stuff in the middle and exercise stations around the outside. Despite being in acres of land, dog walkers are OBSESSED with going round the track. It's bizarre. Actually I was being laid back last night by avoiding them. The more I think about it the more angry they make me LOL |
