Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Yes, that's the way we're leaning I think.

Mine aren't insured either. Now that they are getting older I may need to spend more but have a spare savings account too, so will just use that.

We’ve never had pet insurance in 20 years of cat ownership, it never seemed worth it, especially as we can afford to cover any medical bills.

On the whole, I agree with the sentiments regarding insurance - we covered the £5000 bill for our previous cat (as the insurance didn't cover over 10 years old - we were 2 months over) and of course it was worth it.

We kept petplan going for our current 2 (Maine coons) and upon discovering a bit of an issue with one of their hearts (not HCM) so we had over £1500 on vet bills per year for the last 3 years and then another £800 on dentistry, so it's worked out. It can be a crap shoot.
The only thing I would say is read the fine print, particularly as the cats get older.

I had a friendly visitor when I got back from my evening walk to the corner shop. They've not been round for a while, and it's been a hot day for a cat with such dense fur. After a some fuss we sat together for a bit before they'd had enough of my company and wandered off.

We have a large, noisy aircon unit, and Jerry has been sitting on my knee in front of it - doesn't seem bothered by the noise and has twigged that cold comes out of it.
