Have you noticed that all these cats have the same look on their faces "Take notice of me - not the screen!"

Elderly lady cat Minnie has had a few problems recently. Weeing a lot generally and then weeing blood and on the sofa overnight. Took her to the vet last night who thought she looked old and frail. Then she tried to take blood! 'Still got a lot of fight in her, hasn't she?' :-) She has an infection and also kidney problems and needs a special diet. It'll be fun trying to feed her away from the others...

Hope Minnie makes a good recovery.

I struggled getting my previous cat to take medicine in his food, I think it would have been even harder with more than one!

Advice needed please. Pepper is nearly four and still quite timid at times. We had her as a rescue cat at 11 months. She can be very affectionate but she doesn't stand her ground when other cats come into the garden. There is now a new cat on the block who terrifies her. She won't go out when it's dark and has started weeing in the morning on the floor. She seems to have forgotten how to use her litter tray as well. All cleaned, new litter etc.
Any suggestions on what to do? I have put in a felliway diffuser to see if that helps?

We've got our old girl, who is prone to anxiety, on what the vet calls her 'Happy Pills' - Zylkene. You can buy them over the counter (£16 for a months worth at our vets). Marmalade has gone from pulling her fur out and leaving bald patches all over herself at the stress of the arrival of a puppy in the house, to being brave enough to smack the puppy on the nose and steal the puppy's food! Her hair is growing back and she's completely stopped over grooming.

Are you able to keep her indoors for a while? We had trouble with a local bully cat and it upset my two, especially one who pooed in the bath a couple of times. We now have indoor cats so fortunately don’t have that issue.

Just make sure you clean the areas that she has wee’d with either biological washing detergent or a specialist pet cleaner. It breaks down the enzymes and stops them marking in the same areas. I had a timid cat and whenever anything changed would go through a phase of weeing on the floor

Thanks for the advice. I am hoping that the lighter mornings and evenings will help as she will go out happily when it's light. We have the benefit of having a veranda round the house and she sits on this and watches the garden. It's easy to be brave when you sit 20 feet above!
I'll let you know how it all goes!
Have bought Pepper some catnip mice. If you're going to be miserable, then a dose of catnip could chase away those blues!
